Andrew talks about his experience of completing two foundation years, an undergraduate degree and a post graduate diploma. He talks about how his persistence got him to where he is today in becoming a chartered quantity surveyor.

Finally we talk about being a society president and the pressures that adds to the uni experience as well as the way it also adds to graduate job applications.

This week on STM, Anubha and I discuss meeting each other on placement and working together extensively to develop our lab skills, what to consider when looking to do a PhD and imposter syndrome and some of the ways Anubha is using to overcome that overwhelming feeling.

Episode 10: Will Whiteside

This week I interview another friend I made in America. Studying to become an engineer, Will has had a memorable time at university and we discuss the ins and outs of being friends with your housemates (or not), whether university is right for everyone and how mental health plays a big part in your experience.

Episode 9: Bill Pollard

I chat with my Granddad about being a mature student and going to university at the ripe old age of 47. We discuss how his music career was never meant to be and how fitting at uni requires knee holes in your jeans (Not dad clothes). I learned some things I never knew about my Granddad and I hope that there is some good advice for mature students too!

Episode 8: Mary Desjardin

In this episode, Mary talks about her experience at University and how she completed her Bachelor's and Master's degree alongside working on her mental health. We talk about becoming a teacher and how she wants to impact her students.

I talk to Irenie about living at home whilst at University Vs living on Campus or in a house share. She also tells the story of how she found out about the great support provided by Surrey for Disabled Students and finally how a Gap year before starting Uni helped set her up for the most beneficial university experience.

Episode 3: Katy Browne and Sarah Novroski

This week I talk to two very important people who I met whilst on Placement. The best friend duo Katy Browne and Sarah Novroski. We talk about our favourite memories from last year, how they both graduated early and got into grad school and finally about how they first met. It’s a great and chaotic conversation which I really enjoyed.

Episode 2: Alice Ravenscroft

Alice Ravenscroft, a final year veterinary bioscience student who I met in first year. Alice is charismatic and funny and throughout the episode we have the honour of also listening to Alice’s dogs in the background. We talk about our University of Surrey experiences as well as Alice’s interesting second year housemates.
